This item allows you have a clean traditional look on your Cadillac flathead engine by removing the fan, mechanical fuel pump and generator horns. This item is supplied with all the bolt and dowell holes pre-drilled and the gasket face machined. You will need to supply the gasket. Each timing cover is supplied with its own individual casting number on the inside.
The Purchaser will need to source their own modern crank pulley seal, a20 car axle type seal to your measurements will work well. Measure your crank center and pulley boss diameter and have the seal installed by your local machine shop to ensure an exact fit, this will account for any slight variations across the production years.
The seal position is best obtained by using your original cover as a template reference from which to determine the exact center of your pulley boss. Installing the seal also provides an opportunity for the Purchaser to consider machining the rear end of the pulley boss shorter to allow for the installation of a modern lower pulley which may assist with hot rod engine bay issues.
A SBC aluminum after market pulley can be easily used for this purpose. NOTE: The timing cover will not fit over the obsolete 3 row timing chains without modification. You are therefore advised to install a new 2 row chain which can be obtained from your original Cadillac engine parts suppliers.
